  Greetings to the List:

Johann (wolfstar at peakonline.com) and I (auntdwen at peakonline.com) have
been temporarily offline due to our email server crashing. We have not
received anything since the 29th. Anyone who had prior communications with
us, please repost.

  Dear, Curious.

I understand your concern. Offense was taken, yes...but none you could
correct, dear. The problem has not been
in the handling of the event (until this year)...it has been on the field.

Two years ago, the politics of this region emerged on the
field...unchivalrous behavior, efforts to
prevent certain factions from attaining the title though they brought
superior forces to the event. Frankly,
there was a discernible effort to ensure that only individuals associated
with Northkeep would be
allowed to win. Steps were taken to forge the outcome.

During Johann's hiatus, the fun simply left the event.

As a result of the politics, a good number of us refused to participate
last year...Viggin won by default.
Our greatest concern was that politics had invaded the field...which is
simply unacceptable.

The current situation was compounded by Arianne's inept handling of
Northern Regional Tribute...her
slight is but a month past us. From our perspective, the die has been
cast...this is how our NR seneschale
will transact her business...with bald-faced nepotism. At present, she
chooses the site, the sponsoring
group, and the autocrat...none of which need be associated with each
other--hence, the problems here.

I'm sorry, Dwen. This message is filled with frustration and
disappointment...but things have come too
  quickly on each others heels.

As for the presence of the Crown, the determination to boycott the event
was made before TRM announced
Their intention to be here. By then, the decision to have an alternative
get-together had taken on a life of
its own...it is too late to turn back.

I called last night when I heard that Johann had been approached to
help...I'm sorry that this has fallen on
him since NR Warlord is so dear to him. Please let Johann know I will be
happy to help him in any way
I can. I can only pledge my support but I don't want to see a friend
injured in this.

I believe that when you are afforded no other recourse, you vote with your
feet...Ariane hasn't given us
any recourse. Alas, I am much to blame for this...it is my philosophy
that they give action.

The overall impact on the event will be small...it is about 20 or so
fighters. The only activity affected will
be on the heavy field...the effect will be more symbolic than anything
else. If we had known Johann was
doing NR Warlord, we would have been there with bells on...literally! You
know these guys.

And Namron still roils...Duncan has decided to move our populace meeting
to a different city...one week's
  notice...no discussion with the populace...ARRRGHH!!

I shall certainly be at your event. I have a lot to make up for with
Johann, yourself, Wastelands, and
Mooneschadowe. And if the Crown needs someone to flog for the sparcity of
fighters, it is certainly my
duty to be there and stand tall for what I have set in motion.

As for boycotting all regional events, I can't say what will happen.
These two have been botched by
Arianne...she waits to the last moment, selects someone associated with
the 'Route 44 Gang', and
then tells you "get over it" or "you need to grow up". I feel more often
than not that I am dealing with
the 6th-grade bully on the playground.

Some of this is fallout from NR Tribute...some of this is left over from
recent NR Warlords. I wish you
or I could remedy the situation but decisions and assignments not our own
have precluded that...we
have to walk this path instead.

I commend you on your desire to change things up here...and your example
is noble as always. But
I must travel a different route...I must fight my own fight, my own way.
In the end, our paths will meet
again...and the tales will be glorious.

My regards to you and yours,
  Tadhg

    Greetings, Good My Lord:

Jeeze, I hate not having any voice! I would have loved to say hey
and visit with you this evening. I am hoping you can clarify something for
me online, however.

Johann tells me that there will be a non-event event scheduled
across from Warlord. This saddens me greatly. Jean Paul approached Johann
and me to help with Warlord since he really likes the event and wanted to
see it continue. Johann, as one of the founding autocrats, was glad to
help. I then sought out Arianne and have worked openly with Arianne, Jean
Paul, Walter Robin and others to see that this event comes off. Besides
pride in my lord husband's authorship of the original event, Jean Paul and I
laughed about being able to actually have a regional event the way it was
supposed to be done. I wonder what, specifically, "folks" are reacting to
that they feel they need to schedule their own thing. If there has been
offense given, I would like an opportunity to address it.

If this is just a hangover from being pissed--understandably or
not--about past offenses by others, I'm sorry that this is going to get
dragged out into another reign. I believe, as of this posting, that Their
Royal Majesties are planning on attending the event and holding not one but
two peerage circles. Seems ill advised to offer such an offense to a new
Crown. Especially since His Majesty has expressed his hope to encourage and
promote this event and this region.

If you can offer any insight into what has spurred this action, I
will be glad to hear it. I would hate to think that things have come to
such a point that every time there is any kind of regional event a large
faction will choose not to participate. I still live in the hope of being
able to change how things are done through cooperative effort and example.

    Just Curious,

    Auntie Dwen
