NR - Mead Bees Thanks

Just giving a big thank you to all those who helped to make Mead Bees 2 such
a blast! Two-hundred plus people from Ansteorra and Vatavia braved the storm
Friday night and Saturday morning. Mother Nature relented & sent out the sun
at noon, & the rest of the weekend was beautiful!

In a series of epic battles, the dragonflies of Vatavia retrieved their
Queen from the Ansteorran mead bees (I'm told she was MOST reluctant to
leave), and then both sides settled back to enjoy the spoils of war. There
were competitions in heavy and light weapons, knife/axe/spear, archery, A&S,
bardic, drumming and dancing.

Lady Mercedes & her kitchen crew outdid themselves by not only bringing out
a sumptuous feast on time (I want more pork & 'shroom tarts!), but also by
having the kitchen CLEAN before court was finished! The bardic competition,
held during feast was - well - lively (you'll have to ask one of the
feasters for a more detailed description: I was helping with the serving &
was so distracted by the entertainment that I almost poured hot stew down
one poor server's bodice, thereby providing a final entry to the competition
in the form of the Amazing Dancing Serving Wenches. After that, I had to
force myself to attend to the duties at hand.). And of course, Baron Olaf
and the Wolfstar Tavern provided their famous omlette breakfasts in the
mornings. All things considered, I ate WAY more than I should have, but boy
was it good!

The revelry was classic Wolfstar. My lord tells me that there were a couple
of good bardic circles going on into the wee hours of the morning, & I
drummed my hands into insensibility at the Haffla.

Thanks go to all those in Wiesenfeur & Wolfstar who worked to make the event
a success (especially the Autocrats, Annwyn & Uriah), & extra special thanks
to those from other groups who pitched in, most notably (but by no means
limited to):
Lord Alexander Ravenshaw, who drove out in the wee hours of Saturday morning
to help out at gate, then turned around and headed back to his mundane job
for the rest of the weekend.
Lady Marian, who was (as always) a great help with entourage duties, as well
as serving at feast. (Thanks, Sis!)
HE Master Ulf, who ran the archery competition.

There were many more people working whose names I do not know, & thanks go
to you all. Another special thanks goes to Their Excellencies Vatavia, who
brought themselves & their people down to play with us. Vivat to you all! I
believe negotiations are in progress for Mead Bees 3 as we speak.

Aelfwyn
