[Northern] Northern symbols

To humor an old woman who has been in exile for a long time and thus does not
know current usage, would you please elaborate the uses that the crane is put to
in kingdom at this time?  The fact that it is a supporter to the kingdom arms by
itself seems to me that it would make it more desirable rather than less as a
regional symbol.
