Syr Owen,
I have heard your words and given them much thought. In truth, you are
not the first from whom I have heard such council. I fear that in my
haste to do the honorable thing, I may have been blinded by rumor and
tales of unjust deeds. Your words ring of truth, for indeed, why would
a man intent on conquest be stepping down from such a position of
power? There is also the issue of the perennial conflict that rears its
ugly head in the West. In light of all this, I can only come to the
conclusion that my noble cousin Armand truly has the good of the Kingdom
in mind. It is my sincere hope that his fears concerning my good cousin
Kainin are wrong, but I can not let my hopes endanger the security of
the Kingdom. Therefore; I have decided to help my cousin Armand in
testing the security of Bonwicke and HE Kainin. If HE Kainin can show,
through this test, that he is indeed capable of defending our western
borders, so much the better. But if not, then it is much better that
this weakness if discovered by friends, then by the next band of foes
who would attack our fair Kingdom. I charge you and your squires to
ready yourselves for the march to the West, and let us put these fears
to rest once and for all.
In Service to Crown and Kingdom,
Donnchadh Beag mac Griogair
Baron of Namron
Lord of Skorragardr
