I've run across a few interesting, and appropriate, phrases in Mongolian that might be worth considering:

Apparently Mongolian has two words for prairie, Tal and Kheer, as English has prairie and steppe. I'm not sure about any nuance of difference in those two. It appears that Tal is more often used in constructing phrases, though, like:

Eerem Tal -- open plain prairie
Khöndii Tal -- wide open prairie
Uuzhim Tal -- wide open prairie
Uudam Tal -- vast prairie
Engüi Tal -- boundless prairie
Nüd Aldam Tal -- boundless prairie

Any of these sing to anyone?
