Gentles of Vindheim,
Wow! Did we do something amazing this month, or what?! We are now a
Principality! A place where we can continue to do amazing things and
recognize amazing people!
Many people are already throwing ideas out there for what they would like
to see. That is wonderful! And if you haven’t already filled out the Awards

The Vindheim Principal Herald and I would like to clarify what this poll is
for. It is to gather the thoughts and ideas of what kind of awards and
orders the populace would like see created for the principality. And we
feel that you may need better understanding of what Vindheim can and cannot
create as far as awards go.
Vindheim is not a Kingdom and does not have the ability to create
grant-level armigerous awards like an Arc d’Or or an Iris of Merit.
However, Their Serene Highnesses can create non-armigerous and AoA-level
awards and orders.
It may help you better understand this restriction if you think of us more
like an extremely large Barony that has many groups associated with it.
Similar to a barony, Vindheim can have our own champions and give out our
own awards, like Northkeep’s Beacon for service, Namron’s Argent Fleur for
A&S, and Wiesenfeuer’s Flint and Steel for service, etc.
Just like a barony, Vindheim is subject to the Crown in all things,
including awards. We are not separate from Ansteorra; we are still very
much a part of her as she is a part of us. We have created an area with its
own unique culture that was recognized by the Crown and the Board of
Directors. All that has changed is that we now have a formal name and land
mass with dedicated Royalty to lead and inspire us for our continued
success and well-being.
The awards that will be created for the Principality will most likely be
non-armigerous to recognize those who have contributed to Vindheim in
general and perhaps for deeds specifically. We won’t know for certain what
those awards will be/for, nor will we know what precedence those
awards/orders will hold, until Their Serene Highnesses consult with Their
Stellar Majesties and the College of Arms.
Due to these restrictions, Vindheim will not be able to have a full slate
of awards and orders like Ansteorra. It is unlikely that there will be more
than one award level (track) for A&S, service, marshallate studies, etc.
Also, there is a process for creating awards and orders that must be
followed. And that process has already begun. We are still in the very
early stages of creating these awards and orders. Which is why there is a
poll asking for your thoughts and opinions about those awards. So please,
respond to the polling. Your input is valued and will be considered as
Vindheim moves forward in this process.
