> How about a discussion of the awards no one ever heard of?  There's one Madonna of Ansteorra in Northkeep - anyone know who it is?  Or what the Madonnas were?

	Mistress Alanna is the only holder of the Madonna of Ansteorra,
now a closed order.  It was given to mothers in the Kingdom who took
special care to educate and train their children in the ways of the SCA,
so that the children could set an example for deportment and persona for
other children.  Development of persona, appropriate garb, good
behavior, etc. was looked for.  Nowadays the Compass Rose for adults and
the Rising Star (given directly to the child) has pretty much replaced
the Madonna in the function it was intended to serve.  Alanna got her
Madonna from Simon and Tessa's Principality reign.
