Well, I think they are most impressive.  Good purple and blue/black
coloring.  And in case there was any doubt, a spear shot in the armpit
hurts like a big dog. :-)

My understanding of glaive is that, traditionally, it was a broken sword
fastened to a stick.  SCA glaives are a bit different since we don't do
live steel.  They involve padding and tape and all that good stuff. 

Instruction comes at fighter practice.  Six foot padded glaive is covered
under the general fighter's authorization.  The unpadded 7.5 foot glaive is
a separate authorization altogether.  Ultimately, talk to Marrock, the
Knight's Marshal.  He is the one who can get your husband on the road to
authorization.
