Does that mean if I translated 1 1/4" rattan into something
approximating 
3.175 centimeters, would I get more impact from my shots?

On another measurement area, the English stone was typically used for an
individual's weight. In modern terms, for instance, 20 stone may sound
much 'lighter' than 280 pounds (at 1 stone = 14 pounds).
