(ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE - sorry for the delay, however the post below included

an administrative delay, don't use the word "F - R - E - E"

Good Gentles,

This is an update on the Indoor Nationals. It is an archery tournament
that will be held this weekend, March 27-28, at the Tulsa Convention Center
in downtown Tulsa. This is one of the largest indoor archery tournaments
held in the nation. There is no Admission to all spectators, if you just
want
to come and watch. This is the 60th anniversary of the National Field
Archery Association and the 20th year anniversary of the Indoor National
tournament. The festivities will include an indoor firework display and a
balloon drop. There will be 900 -1100 archers.

We have the opportunity to earn money for the Barony by running a bow-check
room. This is similar to running a hat- and coat-check room. The archers
will pay either a one-time fee for the weekend or a daily fee.

How much can the Barony earn? Is it worth our time? Bow-check rooms have
been done successfully in Louisville and Las Vegas, but one has never been
done here. So there is some risk involved, but the potential reward is
worth it. All that I ask is that each volunteer work a three-hour shift.
Our group could earn over $1000 for 36 hours of work.

Once safely in our Baronial account, the Barony can decide what it wants to
do with the proceeds. The Barony isn't hurting for funds, but it always
nice to have a little extra cash. And we can, once again, show who has the
greatest Barony in the North, and we can show our community the stuff
Northkeep is made of.

The proceeds will be split fifty-fifty with the NFAA. The volunteers don't
have to dress up (Egad's! We will be naked!), but we will have a banner
displayed, showing who we are. We need two people at all times, and erhaps
even a third person during peak checkin/checkout times. The bow-check room
will be open from 12 noon to 9 p.m. Friday, which is a practice day; 6:30
a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday; and from 6:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, both of
which are tournament days.

I still have only half the volunteers needed to make this a success. I have
put a call out to Rundel, if they wish to earn some extra money for their
group; and Marrock will ask the Medieval group at TU if they want to earn
some extra money, as well. The proceeds will be divided fairly among all
groups who have representatives. I have about five other maybes. If you have
a few free hours, please come on out.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at merle at webzone.net or
call me at 74-FLUTE (743-5883). I have an answering machine, so leave a
message and I'll get back to you. Let me know if you can help.

I am proud to be a member of this Barony, and I want to thank all of you who
will be devoting a few hours of your time for the benefit of the group. So
if we have enough people, no one has to work a lot.

In Service,
Ld. Konstantin Drozd
Archery Marshall
Barony of Northkeep

PS: If you know someone who is not on the list or who doesn't have email,
please let them know. Time is short. I will continue to post more details
as I get them. And I will let everyone know where the parking will be.
