Hmmm.... 

If I recall from school, with Roman numerals, one subtracts from the
left and adds to the right. So, 29 would be XXIX [20+(10-10)], 39 would
be XXXIX [30+ (10-1)], and 41 would be XXXXI (40+1). And... just for
those who care, the year 2000 will be MM
