Nicely explained.  I just have this one tiny quibble.  An AOA is not
officially a "service" award, although many groups and people regard it as
such.  It is plainly and simply the right to call yourself "Lord" or "Lady"
(or the cultural equivalent) and to have your device be known as your Arms.
It is given at the discretion of the Crown and may be given for whatever
reason they choose.  There is no set requirement for earning the award.
