One also has to consider if the culture of a certain period region would be
favorable or adverse to consuming many fruits.  Diets could be very bland
with lots of starches, grains and (if lucky) beef or another sort of
protein.  The fruits you ate were usually locally cultivated stock (apples,
pears, etc) or whatever grew wild there about.  Kieran
