Greetings Everyone!

I wanted to send you all a quick and "unofficial" note because I know you
are all excited and curious as to how the process of selection is
proceeding.

You will receive an official posting from our Kingdom Seneschal shortly, but
in the interim, I wanted to give you all some general information so that
anyone who needed clarification has the correct information.

We will continue to accept letters of intent until September 1, 2001.

Remember first and foremost, this is not a democratic election. This is a
polling of the populace for a medieval recreation society. We will consider
all of your votes very carefully, and interview each candidate couple
equally carefully. Each of you will be asked to select a first and a second
choice. Please choose a first and second choice for the ballot, not a
repeat of your first choice.

We will accept absolutely no write in's, and to do so makes your ballot
invalid.

I will be conducting the interviews of the candidate couples at Weisenfeure
Baronial in a private room in the "nest". Each couple needs to contact me
on site that day to set a time for their interview. We will set the times
around courts, tournaments, and feasts so that no one has to miss the event.

His Majesty will be conducting similar interviews on behalf of the Barony of
Bordermarch in the Southern Region, I will be taking notes from these
meetings to share with him, and would be also happy to present to him any
letters from the candidate couples.

The polling will be conducted by the Northern Regional Seneschal's office
and assisted by the Kingdom Seneschal's Office. At this time one or both of
Us intend to be present.

The results of the poll will be announced at Crown Tournament, not the day
of the polling.

Although we are not required to poll non-paid-members, we are inclined to
allow them to be included in the polling, as long as they reside within the
zip codes of the Barony of Northkeep.

Non-member Ballots will be white, Member ballots will be green.

For those not able to attend the polling, we will accept letters with your
opinions up until the day after the polling is taken. Email is acceptable
as long as your membership number, SCA name, mundane name, address and phone
number are included. This information should also be included for letters
sent to us via U.S. mail.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us
directly. I apologize for the mundanity in this post, however, because we
wanted the Barony to have this information as quickly as possible, we are
using this venue to share the information.

Master Richard will be contacting our Vicar Robert as well as Our Seneschal
Ian to set an official date for the polling post haste.

In service to Ansteorra and the Dream,

Larissa
