Often time those hiding groups of non Christians of Europe often used
symbols and "international universal symbols" so my idea still could work :)

Actually, despite what *we* who have
other-than-Christian ideologies must remember though
is that there really wasn't a "non-Christian" part of
Western Europe, or for that matter, Europe in general.
except of course for the parts of
"recently-Yugoslavia" which were controlled by the
Turks, and Spain and bits of France that were at times
controlled by the Moors (both of whom were Islamic
cultures). Even in the areas where the different
aboriginal religions remained for a time, they would
have been kept hidden for fear of oppression (witch
burnings and the such).
Now, yes, we are part of the Society for Creative
Anachronism, and ~creative~ we are!! There are things
in the SCA that are very very strict... Heraldry as we
know is one of them. I think that just about everyone
who has posted on this particular thread, save
Mark/Darmaid has a "goes-by" totally un-documenable
name and an "official" register-able (or not) name. I
think that a Latin Motto would be the proper thing for
a Great Barony. We can have other "mottos"--
"Northkeep Rocks!" comes to mind, but one official on
the Achievement (which has Laurel leaves on it doesn't
it? Another Roman type thing) should be proper in all
respects. (which by the way on looking back on my
earlier posts, I agree, cervix is right out)
Just my couple of pennies worth
