[Northkeep] Other History Question

Susan asked about the demos Northkeep had done at Mayfest in years past.

I participated in the Mayfest demos in 1981 and 1982. In 1983, the Mayfest
committee began to change the focus of the celebration. They closed down
most of the children's activities, quit hiring street performers, and
discouraged other "non-vendor" artists. The minstrels, jugglers, and SCA
disappeared from the festival. In short, it stopped being the street fair
it was originally, in order to focus on "serious" art and music.

Mayfest is still a great art festival, and well worth an evening stroll
through downtown, but it is no longer a venue suitable for SCA demos.

Eamon and Jean-Jacques around the Williams Center Green.
