Greetings all! I just wanted to let everyone know that Master Daveed Korup and his group Turku will be in Oklahoma in May. Unfortunately, his performance coincides with Namron's Beltane Games. However, I know that many of you are involved in middle eastern drumming and dancing in your mundane lives and could pass the information on to non-SCA people who might be interested in attending. Thank you for your time. :)

Turku: Nomads of the Silk Road
Master Daveed's band, Turku, and the incomparable Awalim tribal dance troupe from Atlanta, will be performing at the Indian Heritage Center in Tahlequah on May 11th at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. Call 888-999-6007 for reservations.
Here's the description from the Turku website:
http://www.turkumusic.com/
Nomads of the Silk Road is both the new CD and the concert
performance by TURKU, an 11-member ensemble of musicians and dancers who recreate the exotic and irresistible rhythms of the cultures
along the western half of Central Asia's fabled Silk Road. Ideal for a family audience, with colorful costumes and staging, TURKU's
tapestry includes Turkish, Persian, Uzbek, Azeri, Kurdish, Turcoman, and Romany cultures. Their CD Alleys of Istanbul, was praised
as "virtuosic, high energy, and inspired." "Exhilarating and one-of-a-kind."
