I THOUGHT YOU MIGHT ENJOY.

While looking for the origins of Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, I
stumbled across this Anglo-Saxon version:

Obviously the work of an Old English professor with a bit too much
time on his hands over the holidays.  I wish Poul Anderson could have
done the translation.

Anyway, Rudolph's real origin is also interesting.  Apparently, the
character was developed by Robert May, an employee of Montgomery
Ward.  When May got into financial difficulties, Montgomery Ward gave
him the copyright to Rudolph.  Now _that's_ a Christmas story.:
