I think it's lucky you. The level of spam is increasing and I get a large
amount of it. Since your email address is available all over the place,
it's not hard for evil scum-sucking telemarketers to cruise the net to
harvest email addresses. It's not likely that it's from THIS list since at
the moment, I'm still not getting any spam on my hotmail account (as weird
as that seems), and if they were harvesting the archives for email
addresses, I'd be getting them too.
And I do sympathize. I had one pop up on my computer here at work some
months ago that was, well, um, a very tight close up that caused me to think
(in order): a) "Gee, that doesn't look like a speculum", b) could I find
some way to use it to give one of my co-workers a heart attack, and c)
"pictures like that are illegal to transmit in this state". None of which I
wanted to share with my boss, so it went unappreciated.
We may just have to learn to live with it. I tend to delete ads and
ad-looking things unread (ok, I admit it, I -do- read those Nigerian money
scam things, which are now spreading out to coming from other countries; but
I consider them a form of performance art - an unfolding storyline).
