[Northkeep] Question?!

Hi All,

Let me start by saying, come on gang, lighten up!  I think if you will all
go because you want to be there and for no other reason, with an open spirit
and flow with the day we will all have a good time.  I make no pretense that
I am a fan of  demos.  I did not find this organization through a demo so
they hold no special meaning for me.  And I don't like being those "weird
people who put on armor or costumes or in that cult, whatever."  I think
that devalues what we do, why we do it and the spirit we do it in .  I tend
to believe in my own cosmic "things work out as they are supposed to the
universe is circular" way that those who seek or need something like the SCA
in thier lives will find it.  One way or the other.  Besides that, as anyone
who knows me can tell you I am not good at small talk and don't show off
very well. (I know that makes me a bad Norseman!)  So all this to say I plan
to go at least one day (Sat.), I'll walk around in my armor and smile at the
gawkers, I'll answer questions if anyone asks, I'll fight as I do any other
time (I do not "demo fight" as it goes against my philosphy about fighting
and I believe it creates a false image of the skill and mastery required to
do what we do.) and I'll enjoy any of my friends and extended family who
want to be there.  So I speak to you all, just go.  Make the most of it and
have a good time!  If you want to be there.  If not stay home, it's okay.
Well I've rambled far more than I needed or intended to.  I may have
alienated some of you.  That was not my intention.

 The point is not "fighting for 3 solid days with no breaks". The point is
this:
1: yes 45min. at a stretch is fine. 3 hours inbetween is exhausting and
difficult. Either you have to armor down then armor back up, which is
tiring, or you stay in armor, standing, walking around the fair, whatever
for 3 hours. Which is even worse than fighting for 3 hours. The fatigue
factor is high. Very high.
2:I will only say this once. The noise and rough game of heavy fighting
draws more peoples attention than anything else. They may stay for the other
things but they come initial two watch people hit each other. It is that
simple whether anyone wishes to accept that or not.
3. The situation really doesn't change much, I have been there for the last
3 years and I will (barring health or money issues) be there again.
Finally, then I will go back to my hole: Some people may take this issue
political, it is not. It is all logistics and fatigue factors as far as I am
concerned.

planned to be in 45 min bursts with time to take a
short breather in between.
