[Northkeep] Bards of Ansteorra! News of a splended competition!

Greetings unto the gentle populace of Ansteorra!

I have news of interest to those good gentles whose
sweet melodies of tongue, fine weave of words and
mastery of instrument do entertain us.  Yes, sweet
Bards of Ansteorra! It is time again for the fine
Canton of Rundel’s Title Bard competition to be held
at the Tournament of Margrave the weekend of November
15-17, 2002.

For those who are not aware, this is no ordinary
bardic competition! Several years ago HL Etienne de
Saint Amaranth, the fifth Title Bard of Rundel, did
begin the most interesting tradition.  Rather than
allow the bards of the realm pick those pieces which
they choose to perform in advance of the competition,
he decided to make those decisions part of the
competition.  Early in the day, those who wish to
participate will gather to receive three Runes, the
meaning of each of the Runes will be given as well.
Each bard then has a period of time (to be determined
by the schedule of the day, 2-3 hours) to create and
decide which 3 pieces they choose to perform.

The judging will be based on the following criteria:

How well are the Runes depicted in the pieces (not
required, but helpful)
How well do the pieces relate to Rundel (again, not
required)
Variety of form
Creativity
And of course, pleasantness to the ear


The event is to be held at the Robbers’ Cave State
Park, outside of Wilburton, OK.  For more information

An additional note from the Seneschal of Rundel—

There will also be a new item for the bards in
attendance, a bardic Liar's Competition in the evening
after court.  The idea is that an item will be held
up, and everyone, in turn, will attempt to convince
the judges and audience that the item is something
besides what it actually is... example, if it was a
mug, someone might try to convince us that it is a new
kind of club to defend themselves with.
