I hate Hotmail...
Anyway, after a while, the policeman stands up and helps the fellow up.
"Listen, this isn't working. Let's try this rationally. Do you know
wherabout you were when you lost them?"
"Absolutely. I was over there in that dark alley."
The policeman was flabbergasted - "You were way over there? So why were you
looking here?"
"The light was better."
The story, besides being a simple joke, is an allegory for how people search
for things they think are important to them (God, Enlightenment, good
airline fares, whatever) -- they will tend to look with the flashiest and
easiest, rather than what may take a little more work, but be more
effective.
