Just to go along with what Damon has said here:

"Celt" is like the term "Indian" - it covers a huge number of different 
language and cultural groups that are as far different from one another as 
Osage is from Powhattan.  Lumping them all together is an artifact of all 
that Victorian era folklore bullsh, er, *ahem*, such as Sir James Frazier 
and his Cambridge coterie.

Celtic is frequently used as a synonym for "Irish" or "Scoittish", which is 
fine but can be badly misleading when you try to do your research because 
you wind up expecting, for example, the Keltoi tribes of Gaul to be the same 
as the Irish, or are expecting that the Gauls who sacked Delphi to be read 
haired and speaking in a quaint brogue  :)
