Celtic Spring is an exciting and unique fiddle and dance band composed
of the five Wood family children, aged 8-18, joined by their father on the
traditional Irish drum, the bodhran. Celtic Spring performs the best of the
traditional driving dance music of Ireland and Scotland, occasionally
slowing the tempo with a haunting air or lyrical waltz.
The band members are also highly accomplished Irish dancers. Wearing
colorful and ornate costumes, the children perform spirited reels, jigs and
hornpipes. Throughout the show, they exchange fiddles for dance shoes,
creating a dynamic interaction between the music and the dance.
The Wood children's classical training is evident in their textured
arrangements and musical sensitivity. Celtic Spring has performed all over
the United States and has been featured on numerous radio and television
programs, including Good Morning America.
Celtic Spring is presented by the Tulsa Performing Arts Center Trust
and is part of Tulsa SummerStage Festival.
