I also agree, and tend to support local merchants whenever possible. The
problem with local fabric stores is the lack of 100% linen, and if they
do occasionally have linen, the selection is extremely limited. I have
been looking for linen locally for almost 3 years, with no luck, so went
looking online to find what I needed.

Just out of curiousit -- is there anyone besides me who objects to
buying
fabric off the web?

Diarmuid, I'm generally with you!
It goes against every instinct to buy fabric from a picture as I tend to
be
exceedingly fussy about texture and how things feel against the skin...
but
I haven't been able to find anything locally... and Abe REALLY needs
some
garb... so I find that I am about to commit that dreaded act... and
order
Online.
(Fabrics-store.com as so many others have mentioned, seems to have very
nice prices and better selection - not so many out of stock notices.)
- zubeydah,
who REALLY misses the Los Angeles Garment District at times like
these...
