Pfft.  The first time I programed one of these things it was with paper tape
and holes (and so is it any wonder that I think programming is not for
rational people...).  Clearly the test is seeing if you are a geek by
CURRENT standards, not historical ones.

Seriously, while I understand that today being a "geek" is frequently seen
as cool, this just baffles me.  OTOH, in the bad old days, being a Star Trek
fan (simply as an example) was a BAD thing, and got you nailed with a lot of
ridicule.  Now when I see co-workers with their Trek calenders it just
confuses me.  I think deep down I'm just convinced that the current "being
geeky is cool" thing is just a subltle set up for some serious ridicule and
humiliation down the road (in the Stalinist 'tempt hem with capitoliism and
then purge the ones stupid enough to try it' mode).

This of course may explain why my interests are so compartmentalized, and
people who only have seen the shoes thing, are surprised by the other
historical materials sites I have out there, much less the other stuff  :)
