[Northkeep] sewing day

If you can come to needleworker's on Monday, some of our populace can
bring books for you to look at for ideas. They also can help you
determine if a design will be in your period (both the books and the
people). Before I started making garb, I first decided what period I
wanted to be in, and what country I wanted to be from. That narrowed
down the garb choices. If you look at some pictures of clothing, and
find some that you like, that might be what determines what country and
period you're from. I wish I would have gone to needleworker's first,
and talked to some of the populace, because in hindsight, I would have
picked a Norse persona for two reasons. One, the clothing is cooler in
the summer heat and two, it's extremely easy to make and looks good.
Since I'm not the best seamstress, this would have been a really good
choice for me. However, I am learning to sew, and if you don't look too
closely at what I make, it looks O.K. Good luck in your research.

I think the idea of a sewing day and/or class is a good idea. I would
like to be in on the sewing day part of it, unless someone teaches on
norse costumes.skerri

class first, also, since I'm lost as to what style
goes when. Then I'd love to do the sewing day. Have machine, will
travel.

Are people still willing/wanting to do a garb/sewing day? Where we bring
machines and cutting boards and everyone has their fabric washed already
etc........... Would July 5th or the 19th be a good day for that? I have
an idea of a place we might be able to use if people will come.

Thoughts???
