[Northkeep] Demos and new members

Whomever is currently hospitaler, should hopefully have some of the various
pamphlets that SCA inc and Northkeep have published over the years to hand
out at demos. Hovever, I think those are better to hand out to people
hanging out at fighter practice, since you have better odds of seeing them
show up again. To reinterate what HL Damon allready pointed out, Demos are
not where we get the vast majority of members from. Like it or not, most
new members come from contacts w/ friends and family. If you want to bring
in new members, invite someone who's your friend or aquaintance that you
like to hang out with. Its really as simple as that. No one joins (or at
least sticks around) unless they have some sort of relationship with others
here. As a fighter, Ive talked to probably hundreds of people over the last
decade at fighter practice in Woodward and other parks here in town. For
the most part, you know in about 2 mins of conversation if you are going to
see this person again. If they do come back out, as Damon said, you have a
1 in 4 chance that they will continue to participate. This percentage does
tend to increase, I think, if that person is a friend or family member of
someone who's already a member. Its just simple group dynamics, no one like
to be the new kid.
