Today, Wednesday July 21st and tomorrow, Thursday July 22nd, are both Ozone Alert Days for the Tulsa Metropolitan area.

Active children, adults and especially people with respiratory disease such as asthma should limit prolonged outdoor exertion!

On Ozone Alert days, please avoid driving when possible (ride your bike, walk or take the bus for 50 cents), If you must drive, carpool (www.tulsacommuter.com), combine trips and limit unnecessary travel, drive your newest (cleanest burning) vehicle, drive during off-peak hours (to avoid long idle times) and refuel in the evenings (and avoid spilling gas). Also, turn your vehicle's A/C off in the early morning and drive slower than 60MPH and take your lunch to work.

Other ways to help: Avoid using gas-powered lawn mowers, weed trimmers, etc. Turn up your thermostat a few degrees before leaving home and postpone permissible outdoor burning to a non-alert day.
