[Northkeep] Identifying fabrics (was: linen-rayon blends...?)

Oh mighty knower of all things fabric... How does one tell what kind of
fabric one has if they aquired said fabric from a friend or family
member and it isn't marked? I suspect some of the fabric I have is what
you described below, but I have no way of knowing. There is other fabric
as well that seems more like it could be linen... Or wool... Or
something else... But I haven't a clue. Although, most of it did come
from Susan, so there is a decent chance it was purchased for SCA and
therefor, at least part linen... But who knows?

Rayon is made from natural substance, so even though it is classified as
a synthetic, it should be a good companion blend with linen. Both are
comfortable fabrics to wear, linen wicks moisture, so it is a great hot
weather fabric - especially in Ansteorra! Rayon has wonderful
drapabilty, and gives a lovely flow to skirts.
You get linen's durability and comfort, without the general stiffness
that is usually associated with most linen weaves, and the softness of
rayon that makes an outfit look graceful.
Unfortunately, it still has to be ironed - rayon and linen are both
rather wrinkle-y, but it should be a good fabric to work with!
