Just as a safety tip -- "Apron dress" is an SCA shorthand term (like "10 
gore dress" and "bog dress") that can get you pummled in dark alleys by anal 
retentive costumers.  No, there's not a better term, but if you run into 
people who squawk about the term that's why, or tell you that it's *really* 
a pinafore, or a hangerrok, or a tregarrok that's why.

I will say, that properly done, they are quite attractive garments.
