You have just brought tears to my eyes, Milady Gisela. I must give credit to all that are due for it is them that makes being generous so easy. Your daughter and all of Castellan's attending children are what we will leave our society to when it is time for us to step down from whatever capacity we earn while living our dream. They are our blood, our heart and our hope for carrying on the dream. This makes it not only a duty, but an honor to be one who influences them - to show them that we are a people of good character and merit. They will carry our torch and so with that I am humbled to read your kind words. Your daughter was not rewarded with half as much as her spirit deserved, but I am glad to know that she liked what she did get. I am looking forward to wInterkingdom and her presence.

Please keep all these in mind with your thanks:
  In no particular order:

House Halfiras - Vivat! There are no words that can suffice for the service they provided. Prizes!! Food!!!
H.E. Beorhtlic and H.E. Elizabeta - Advice and concern to ensure everyone's success. Forms, forms, forms - I would not know without them. Prizes.
H.L. Elisabeth and Lady Olivia de Calais - Right hand team and errand runners!!! Such encouragement and loving friendship in a pair!
Revca - forgive the spelling - stepped in when others did not.
Lady Jehenette (sp?) and Centurian Wiggen - for playing with the children and assisting in the games.
Adearan (sp?_) - supplies and stepping in.
Doug Shannon - assisting with youth
Zubeydah - Scrolls, necklaces, tokens, and a very gentle and caring spirit. She made me sit down while she worked. Supplies.
H.E. Adria - Badges for heraldry, advice, assistance, and carefully watching.
One who wishes to remain anonymous - prizes that were perfect, love for all souls, and judging.
H.L. Damon and his lady Ismet - concern, care, and judging
H.E. Ainar and H.E. Mercedes - Care, concern, advice, support, and permission. No words to express......and the tubs!
H.E. Ian and H.E. Kelandra - Encouragement and faithfulness to see me through. Supplies/prizes.
Wilhelm - prizes beautifully and skillfully made
Renault - seeing to it that the prizes came
Trisha Horn - (forgive me, I lost your SCA name) - seeing to it that all the prizes would be delivered from Halfiras and making prizes for the children.
Ollie from Mooneschadowe - Letting the kids smack him with wet sponges for thrown weapons competition when the other guy didn't show up.
Zahava batHannah - teaching heraldry when pressed for time elsewhere. seeing to it that anything needed would be granted.
  Mongo - Teardown.

If I have left out any names - please forgive me - as there were soooooo many helpers and givers. Once again, a reason Northkeep is the Barony of Choice.

    It is people li
e you who make it the way it is. Even though it was not your fault that my daughter's name was on your list of winners, you gave her a grand prize, anyway, so she wouldn't feel bad about giving back the prize she thought she won. You gave her so much more than you needed to and for that, you are a kind and generous person. That you pointed out that you were happy she joined the activities, even though it wasn't much, made me happy to know you care about each individual child, including mine. Union Schools and the children that attend it are lucky to have you as a teacher and we are so very lucky as well that you choose to spend your extremely valuable time (as I know your job doesn't end when the bell rings) enriching the lives of OUR children and making Northkeep an even better community.

To you, LADY Yrmentrude, VIVAT!

You ask yourself, what is this all about, what is the purpose, and why did I just walk through these doors? Well, I will tell you why: because the Barony of Northkeep was established and raised to a greatness of people who present themselves as a proud group of people who deeply care for the society and that is a hard example to walk away from. They know that flight is not an option. Each new face peeking through is not seen as an invasive, but rather instantly becomes a potential member of the Northkeep family and is surrounded by open arms to set fears at ease. Friendship is offered and hands are extended - always. Such generosity of spirit is a difficult find.

With all this I would like to say that Castellan was my first event. Moreover, it was my first attempt at serving the Barony with what little I have to offer; and I was graciously accepted and supported by everyone. Their Excellencies, Houses, single individuals humbly acting alone - some choosing anonymity, officials, and more experienced passersby - all took the time to care for my efforts. Without the covering of their wings, I would not have so much to give.

I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who has taken the time to make Northkeep the Barony of Choice. Thanks to all who have shown me friendship and care and I look forward to many more Castellans with you. Vivat Northkeep!!!!!!!!

  Trudy
