Heya...
Ok, I thought I had done this once before, but looks like I hadn't. So I'll try again.
My name's Greg and some of you all probably already know me from the rather esteemed company I keep.. namely Kormakr, Morgan, Tega, and Lady Jeni (I do so love knowing all the right people). For you all, this is boring tripe, you can ignore it.
For those of you who don't know me.. read on!
My name's Greg, but the name I've chosen for the SCA is Rageba Al Qamar, which translates into "Wish of the Moon," which is pretty nifty considering that my nickname in, uhm, "other" circles is "w|sh." The personna I've taken on is that of a Syrian cleric from Damascus. As yet, I haven't pinned down an exact time period, but since I've chosen a cleric, which implies a Muslim backbround, I guess that limits me to a few periods. :)
I chose tihs personna because I do have an intrest in Middle East culture and I also hear that there hasn't been a lot of Middle East representation in this kingdom, although you all did have a recent King who was Middle Eastern (Mahadi I believe? I imagine my spelling is wrong). With respect to various disciplines within the SCA, I haven't quite figured out a path yet, so I'm not real sure as to what group I would best connect with. However, I can say that I won't be fighting (much to Kormak and Morgan's dismay). Hopefully I'll get that down soon as I explore more of this.
I am also treating this project as an opportunity to stretch my writing legs a bit too. When I was in high school, I had an assignment wherein I took on the role of a character out of a book and did a journal based on his perceptions. I found the project to be fun and incredibly educational, so I figure I would duplicate that while I'm in the SCA. The basic idea is that I will, again, keep a journal and base it on my personna's view of the world. If anyone would like to keep up with it, you can read it over at LiveJournal, specifically http://ragebaalqamar.livejournal.com and you don't need any sort of special account or anything to read. Hopefully it will prove to be engaging to read.
I guess that's about it for now. Sorry to ramble on like that. Can't wait to see you all at Populous tonight!
