That would be the TREK EXPO October 12-14. That's probably the reason for 
all the trekkies. ;) It's pretty group-specific.

Birds of Prey attend this on a yearly basis for demos, as well as a few of 
the local swordfighting schools.

I am probably attending both of these, as my nerdiness holds no 
boundaries...
