The following is the current list of classes for Gulf Wars.  
If you wish to add on classes, please check with the proctor at Scribes Point - 
additional classes are welcome, even those kingdom specific.

Scribal classes at Gulf Wars 2007:

Uses of Poetry and Poetic Form in SCA Scribal Arts
Lord Andres Castillo Suarez de Sevilla (Gleann Abhann)
Poetry and poetic form can be used when making scrolls and
awards to better customize the scrollwork to the recipient; an example
of this would be using Irish poetry to augment an award being given to
an individual with an Irish persona, or using Norse poetic techniques
to add flavor to a scroll being designed for a Viking persona.
   Tuesday 3pm

Curing and Cutting Feather Quills
Mistress Hillary Rose Greenslade (Ansteorra)
   Learn how to cure and cut feather quills to use for calligraphy. Once cut, 
the quills with be
tested on paper.  
   Wednesday 1-3pm

Celtic Book Art Appreciation 
THL Isabel the Mad (Gleann Abhann)
   A brief history and overview of Hiberno-Saxon book art. Interesting facts 
and features of
well-known manuscripts including the books of Kells and Darrow. Big handout. 
Thursday 11am 

Beginning Carolingian Calligraphy
Mistress Hillary Rose Greenslade (Ansteorra)
   Learn the basics of Carolingian Calligraphy.  Emphasis will be place on 
using a dip pen and
laying out paper for practice; this is a beginner calligrapher class, new 
scribes welcome. 
Thursday 1-4pm

Drawing Figures for Scribes 
THL Isabel the Mad (Gleann Abhann)
   Proportion, poses and features for making miniscule representations of the 
human form as seen
in historiated initials and scroll borders. Using typical examples from the 
early to mid European
gothic period. Handout.
