Warning another extremely long post
?
?I think we are on the same page now, but we have to get confirmation from the
group up here. Since I spend most of my days in Bartlesville, I will help alot,
but the driving force needs to be the group.
?
JP said he would drum up some of the mooneschadeen, to come to?the demo. So if
we can confirm that the 11/18/2009 weekend works best, then he can begin
arranging who will go.
?
I can print off flyers in color for free at work but no more than 50, if you
want black and white I can print about a 100. These should be posted in areas
that students read them, like outside classrooms and believe it or not in
bathrooms in the dorms and buildings. *If??you can get permission* Flyers to
advertise the SCA generally should be posted first, to drum up interest with a
reference on facebook. Followed by?the demo flyers and posting to the facebook
page. Therefore two pre-demo trips to campus to post flyers. Are there any dorky
hobby groups already there or underground D & D players lists? Those people
might be interested in the SCA already but never got a chance to experience it
as adults.
?
I will begin drumming interest here at COP with the Demo.
?
Does anybody from B'ville want to create the Facebook?page? Something common
enough like Bartlesville SCA, with the canton's name as a nickname that way it
is easy to find, and we?don't overwhelm them with?our vocabulary. ?
?
?
?

October 18th sounds way great!!!That gives us plenty of time to get the word out
and post some things on the web.Remember,on one of the sca sites(cant remember
which)shows a gulf wars(maybe #16-#17) report about 8 min. long that the early
show filmed and produced for on the air,and shown.Flyers cant be too much. I can
throw a 5or10 in the p
ot.However how will they get to their destination, and how,
will they be distributed. If we go with the 18th thats six weeks of promotion.Am
I missing anything(probably, good that way)if not.I love the idea that Kat has
put forth before us.Any other thoughts or suggestions?

WARNING LONG POST ALERT

What I am hearing now, is that we have to do it, either, Sunday the 30th OR look
for it to happen on October 18th. My vote currently is for the October 18th due
to lack of time for the 30th. The calendar is totally booked due to fall events,
this puts it opposite of the fall harvest at elf sea, but i don't believe that
it will conflict with the fighting calendar, nor another northern happening.?

We need a flyer with something catchy, (flyers don't work all that well for
broadcasting to college groups due to the prolifera of it!), but we may be able
to poke up some reference and interest by using the SCA website, and you tube
videos via facebook, with a reference of a demonstratation of this nifty hobby
at the time and place. WE need to get that in the hands of the person capable of
getting it through immediately. OSU usually had approval with in 24 hours, once
you figured out how to get approval. Sundays are always dead days, but having it
at the campus isn't bad, and it is a safe area for most students.

Via the Bartlesville COP website I can and will post information about our nifty
cool hobby as soon as I know when and where. (We will need other professionals
and corporate dorks like them to help communicate with these people.)

I really did mean that we should have actual classic college students fronting
the speaking with the college crowd. The model is Dorks like them.

There is no PC way to put this... (so everyone please don't get offended it
applies to me too..) when you have
a person that is working, has kids, and is
still trying to reference what they think is cool to someone who is just in
school,? we come off as wierd and, at worst, creepy. Once they get to know us,
that is when we get to be creepy cool..

So That is the end of my long post,

Kat

I see alot of people have the same goal of trying to make something happen with
our friends in the north.
Wiggens lady does have the schedule down cold.My two cents,if we want to post
flyers, cards, word of mouth etc...this takes some time and planning.Video, there
are enough sites with clips to put together a short montage(for those with time
and resources)not me,ha ha. Seriously though,if we take a little time find a
good day(for all that can attend)it will workout well.I mean we have done
more,with,less,right.?.

In service,
Ld William of Northkeep

Hey everyone! This is Tara from Bartlesville. I actually think Sunday practices
wouldn't be that bad. It's pretty dead on campus it seems on weekend afternoons.
We'd just have to look at the campus master calendar. The administration does
encourage people to attend a church somewhere, but not everyone does. After
church the routine of most kids is to just hang out or do the homework they
procrastinated for Monday. The problems that I think we might run into no matter
what day works is apathy or busyness. Some kids won't come out some days just
because, and the work loads do get tough for students. (I just finished my
junior year, but am taking this semester off because of the baby.) What is
exciting t
hough is the demo being on campus. If something crazy is happening
someplace kids can see as they mill around, people are more likely to be
interested rather than driving somewhere for their first taste of the SCA.
Anyway, either Saturday or Sunday afternoon
would be fine I think
... I'm stoked, I think this'll be fun. :D Whatever day we decide to be first,
let me know. The student life department has to approve all flyers that go up on
campus so we'll need to get something like that done early, but we could flood
the place (billboards, sidewalks, trees, doors, etc.) with awesome and catchy
promo stuff. Also, I could make an event page on Facebook and hit up the whole
OWU network--Facebook is like cocaine for college students, like addicts we all
have to have it in order to function properly. What would be awesome is getting
some sort of couple minute sweet video made up and approved to show before
chapel services (every Wednesday and Friday) to get students talking. *This
would have to be ran by Kyle White probably--that's the guy you know from scouts
Ottokar* So, this is long, but there are lots of ways to reach OWU and
Bartlesville in general. Let's do it!
