Hi,

Probably the first thing to understand is that you don't have to become 
a national member in order to participate.  Show up to some meetings, 
fighters practices, etc.   You can even attend events without being a 
'member'.

Once you know more and a feel for the great fun you'll have you can do 
the official thing and pay up.
