Coming in late on this thread...there have been a lot of good
suggestions on things to do and see in the Tulsa area. I filled out a
survey for the city recently and told them there weren't enough hours in
the day to do everything I'd like to do here. There are many
guilds/clubs that have nothing to do with the SCA (folk dance for
example) to partake in. Not that the SCA doesn't keep one busy :-) Time
and money, of course, can limit what you can reasonably do.

If would like info on the schools and various neighborhoods, email me
privately. Also, our next door neighbor (Anawyn's husband, Eggswith) is
a real estate agent and would probably love to help you. A lot depends
on the location of your prospective employer and how far you are willing
to commute.

In the mean time...

(Ismet and Damon)

Some of our favorite restaurants:

English pubs (but family friendly):
White Lion 71st and Yale area and Bakers Street 71st and Memorial

Irish pubs (also family friendly): McNeillies downtown (http://mcnellies.com) and Kilkenny's on 15th street
(http://www.tulsairishpub.com/) McNeileys can get really crowded if there are events going on downtown.

German: Margaret's at 51st and Sheridan (http://www.margaretsgermanrestaurant.com/) and Seigies 81st and Sheridan (http://www.siegis.com/)

Italian: wish I knew of one that wasn't a chain--but Olive Garden, Macaroni Grill and Carraba's are all here

Indian: Kolam 48th and Memorial (http://kolamiic.weebly.com/)

Thai: Thai Siam (6380 E 31st St), Thai Garden 71st. Street in Broken Arrow (Tulsa suburb)

European: French Hen (kind of pricy though) If you want a true European experience without the price tag Pratt college does a great job at their place called Foundations, but I think you need a reservation.

Japanese: Memories of Japan in Broken Arrow (a Tulsa suburb) and Fuji (71st and Memorial area)

Mexican--really Mexican, not a chain: Tacos San Pedro, not much for atmosphere, but interesting food (71st and Memorial)

Realize that 71st. street from Memorial to Garnett (2 mile strip roughly centered on US-169) is reasonably called restaurant row. Mostly chains but the selection is broad.

We will try to drive around as much of the city as possible and check out some of the neighborhoods for real estate. If we had more time than just this first weekend then we would visit the museums. Looking forward to seeing Tulsa and meeting its great people!
