Hello Northkeep,
I hope you are tolerating Mother Nature and her tantrums of late.
The following is a message that I am forwarding to see if anyone is interested in either being a merchant or attending:
On
October 1 (the same day as Coronation), an artists' faire is being
hosted in Oklahoma City. Titled the Canterbury Faire, it is being
hosted by the St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church (where the
kingdom heraldic and scribal symposium was hosted in July 2010). The
faire is open to the public and, in addition to artisan booths,
children's activities and food are planned as well.
The call has gone out for artists who wish
to register for booth space (there is a fee) to sell their crafts and
the works of their hands and to seek commission work. Artists sought
include those who work in: "acrylic, drawing, sculpture, jewelry,
watercolor, photography, wood, pottery, oil, graphics, textiles, glass,
or other medium". To be clear artisans are being sought to merchant
their wares and arts to the public. Artists who register will receive
the following:
• Complementary continental breakfast Saturday morning which will be available to all exhibitors/artists/vendors.
• One (1) lunch voucher per artist/vendor
• Assistance, if requested, moving your belongings in/out of building
• Booth sitter for lunch and necessary breaks during the Faire
• Publicity in conjunction with regular St. Augustine Canterbury Faire publicity
So, if you are an artist who wants to sell your produced
art to the public and
you are not going to be attending Coronation, please visit the Faire web site (http://staugustine.episcopaloklahoma.org/canterbury-faire-2011.html) and consider participating. Registration forms and details (booth
sizes, times, etc.) are available on the website or on the registration
application.
Since the faire is Canterbury themed, wearing SCA period
costuming while merchanting would be welcomed but is certainly not
required. This is a facility which has had a favorable impression of
the SCA through prior facility use. In fairness, it should be noted that this is a "church hosted event", not just an event hosted at a church.
Applications accepted for artists would likely not include those selling certain explicitly pagan items or adult novelties as such items would
reflect back on the church as a host.
