I took a geography class at OSU taught by a meteorologist who said that scientists come to Oklahoma from all over the planet because no place else has such varied, and wildly vascillating, weather as we do here.  He had switched from the meteorology school at OU to teaching at OSU because he said he had gotten too old and too tired to ride herd on the grad students who chase tornadoes all over the state.
