I remember meeting you that weekend. And I will bet that Roslyn & Catrin
will, as well. So full of fire and already accomplished for your age. It
was Will's first outing...he was one week old. We took pictures at that
fighter practice..I must try to dig through, because I will bet there is one
of you. Now that is one for the files :)
I remember how very young, and how very enthusiastic you were. We missed
you when you went away to college.
And what a delight that the enthusiasm and the energy is still the same.
What a gift you have been to the Barony for these thirty years past.
Love you dearly,
Alanna

Thirty years ago on the third weekend of January, I attended my first
fighter practice. I as yet had no costumes, so I put on a Chinese-ish shirt I
had made in Home Ec class, on the theory it didn't look excessively modern,
hoped everyone would ignore that I was wearing blue jeans and cowboy
boots, and drove to McClure Park. I was not yet eighteen, and a senior at
Memorial High School.
That day I met a couple of guys named Finn and Blackfox, some fellows my
own age (one of whom at that time was going by Bjorlic auf Graumausser), and
several ladies, including Caitrin, Roselynde, and Alanna.
It was A.S. 14, and Jan w Orzeldom and Kemreth Danil reigned as the third
King and Queen of Ansteorra. I would not attend my first "real" event for
six months, when I would see Sir Finn Kelly O'Donnell win Crown Tournament
and crown Elzasif Ironhand as his Princess.
College took me first to Bryn Gwlad, then Mooneschadowe. Northkeep,
however, has always been my home. It's been a grand thirty years, and I'm
looking forward to thirty more -- and then some.
In humilitate,
Talana
