[Northkeep] Qualitative Analysis Interviews

After our Research, Evaluation, Methodology, and Statistics class discussed our Qualitative Analysis Interview of the SCA in depth, they decided that instead of asking 5 individuals from the SCA come to our class, they will attend fighter practice on Wed Apr 13th to conduct hour long interviews at the VFW.

I thought this would be a great idea so they can see us as a group instead of just a few individuals. Perhaps we could make it a garb night, or an additional grub and garb for the month to make it more special. Some showed such interest we may get some newbies out of it.

Right now the class is organizing ideas to create good questions. Interviews will cover a range of questions. These will be synthesized in a descriptive qualitative analysis paper that we will have to write on a later date. (but you don't have to worry about that :)

There were a couple who volunteered to be inteviewed on my first request, Adalia and Tina, and I thought I'd actually place the pairs of interviewers (teach wants us to pair up) with a specific individual to be interviewed based on availability. Not all of the class can show up at the same time. Some will show at 6:30, and some later. For instance, my partner and I will do 7:30-8:30 because I teach 6-9 and will have to let my class out early to make it.

Adalia and Tina: If either of you can't make it to fighter practice that night, please let me know and I will find another.

We still need 3 (possibly 4 as 2 students have been absent for awhile and not sure if they will attend) individuals to interveiw. Since we have a Herald and Bard, I was hoping for a heavy fighter, light fighter, archer, live weapons, long time player or other for volunteers to give the class a diverse group of interviewees who will not answer the questions with the same answer. Some of the questions have been around the subject of escapism as one of our Psych majors has been talking about it, while another girl showed interest in race and reenactment and someone wondered about the cost of playing.

Please send me a personal email if you're interested and what times you will be available for a 1 hour slot. When I place the interviewers with the interviewee, I will post the list. I'd also like a volunteer who can be present the entire time to seek unfamiliars who arrive at the VFW (since I can't be there the entire time) who can take the names and match the class to their interviewee. So, if you're interested in doing this, and a young one would even work for this job, please let me know.

Thanks all,
Dervilia
