To Lord Blackmoon: I have also seen powdered chalk used to deter ants. I
believe it works by confusing their pheromone trails and they do not like
that. The bit about Osage Orange is news to me, and how handy! such a
wonderful tree.

Where may I find HL Dervilia's article which you mention?

To Lord Laiodheach: Beware AB! I had a shysty customer service experience
with them. The clamshells were good....When I finally got them.
at least they are quicker than illusion armory though. I say look at
Therions or Kult of Athena.
KoA is usually cheaper than Therions and they rock my world with their
prompt delivery but Therions caters more to SCA needs.

Whatever did medieval geeks do before the internet?!

So I recently ran into a bit of an issue as the couple of fighters here in
Chemin Noir started getting their last minute armour things finished. The
helm that ive been preping to use doesnt fit at all. no amount of foam or
fitting seems to keep it from touching ether my nose or brow ridge. Anyone
have any ideas that might help or maybe someone has a size huge helm that i
could trade or buy. Any advice would help ^_^

In service,
Laiodheach the Bear

I'm glad Lady Z mentioned this, as I was going to post something. There have
been a number of complaints about dealings with AB . Check out the
Classifioed/Want Ads section of www.armourarchive.org?It is a very active
area, but posting is down right now due to Pennsic. There are sometimes some
really fabulous deals, but check with one of the old-timers by private
message before buying off someone is my advice.
?
If I were you, I would post that you are looking ftr a hem, preference if a
type, and mention you are a new fighter looking fior a starter helm as some
folks will give an extra break on the price to a new fighter. Oh, and be
sure to include your cranial circumferfence in inches, to give folks a
proper idea of just how big a helm you need
?
Good luck!
?
?
Val

Just a suggestion for the original post. Rather than padding the helm, have
you tried padding your head? I'm serious. Period helm design didn't use foam
anywhere. They used internal helm support structures (similar to the old US
Army steel pot helmets) and coifs.

greetings

okies the saga answers that question .

also nice article hl dervillia ; )
Diatomaceous Earth works to irritate and kill all exoskeleton insects,
however the most it will do in a week end camping would be to irritate them
if they crawled through it. in the house a full fledged infestation of fleas
disappeared in like 4 days, and I'm just now getting spiders back in the
house after a year, and I'm told it also works on bed bugs since it cuts up
the flex points in their bodies.
haven't tried the cedar oil, may check it out .
borax , or Osage apples cut up ( boric acid ) will kill them if they walk
through it, and a lot of insects also don't like to walk through cinnamon

I had heard of people scattering old cat litter around camp but always
though it was to keep mice and squirrels ( 4 legged ) out of the camp.

not sure on the sprays, different spiders and scorpions are affected
differently by different poisons, what kills one " pop" will only slowly
kill another.
one of the surprising things around , is that " flea " spray seems to be a
regular " wonder " spray, it kills flies in flight, it kills wasps, fleas,
well ,to be honest , every pest I have sprayed it on , except myself ; )

Be Safe , Be Happy, Have Fun .
Arthur

During a rehab of Lengburg Castle in Tyrol, Austria, thousands of textiles
were found, including some pieces that are apparently 15th century bras.
