When Hiiam had been called Hiiam for several months, one of his friends pointed out that if he did not pick out a "real" name soon, he was going to be known as Hiiam forever.  And, while the name had been a splendid joke for a while, Hiiam did not want to be Hiiam for the rest of his SCA life.  So Hiiam sat down for a consultation with Northkeep's resident name expert, Lady Livia Madeleine Montgomery (now H.L. Livia, but at the time she hadn't yet received her Iris).

Like many new SCA'ers fishing around for a persona name, Hiiam first suggested the name of his favorite D&D character.  Not surprisingly, that made-up name was not to be found in any of Livia's extensive collection of reference books.  However, she did find a reference to an obscure third century saint whose name was quite similar if a few letters were switched around.  And so she began gently nudging him in the direction of a registrable name.
