okies, after adalia sent me a link for the manual, it appears that his 
problem was twofold, 1: wrong needle.
2: machine not properly assembled .

the manual shows a place for two spools of thread on the back of the 
machine.
the machine shows two screws and a flat spot where the spool rods should be 
.

thanks again everyone i may just be able to make this work ; )
