[Northkeep] Routes To Gulf

I-40 east from Little Rock to Memphis is the boring-ist stretch of road in the central U.S. The bad part is when you enter the Memphis environs. Traffic is bad, there is always construction issues, etc.

Done it a number of times to GW & Atlanta and really don't care for it. Also done the route that comes out of Vicksburg and over to Pine Bluff. Again fairly boring through the river bottoms and they really ought to up the Speed Limit but I think it's a better route than 40 through Memphis.

What about Paris-Texarkana-Shreveport? Much of the Texarkana-Shreveport segment is four laned.

Greetings!

The shortest route to Gulf, from McAlester, is down to I-20 and east into Louisiana. I've driven that 200ish miles to the Kilgore area, and it takes me four hours anyway, with all those little Texas towns to drive thru. When I factor inan evening travel, speed limits drop further in that area.

Mapquest says it is 55 miles further to drive I-40 over to Little Rock, then on south. I can be in and maybe past Little Rock in four hours. Has anyone trie the I-40 route to LR then south? Was it smoother than the I-20 way?

Thanks!

Val
