This poem makes me think about the roll that some heroes take, providing
inspiration, and motivation regardless of the personal cost.
Wound-wrought unto the long ship’s keel you climb,
Still battle-bold but cold as the ocean brine.
The war-host courage ebbs low,
Inspiration to others you must show.
War-brand raised to ease shield-brothers fear,
Heart-mead flows from the effort most dear.
To battle and glory you point the way,
But even heroes must die one day.
