[Northkeep] Viking era navigation discovery

Viking era writings describe a "sun stone" which was used by navigators to find the sun on a cloudy or misty day.  A crystal that can refract light and be used to triangulate the position of the sun has been found on a 16th century British vessel, and seems to solve the mystery:
