For those not on Facebook where this was first posted...
This coming Sunday, Rosamund and I will be renewing our wedding vows as part of celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. This weekend is Memorial Day weekend and also Steppes Warlord. Please enjoy your holiday or Steppes event responsibly and travel safely. We understand that many who know us will simply not be able to attend for those and other reasons.
But please know that if you are not attending Steppes or traveling, and you know us, you would be welcome to join us for the renewal.
The renewal will be held at Saint Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City (site of the last couple of Wiesenfeuer Yule Revels) on Sunday, May 26, at 5 PM. Address is 14700 North May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK.
The church is holding a special Evensong service (sung Evening Prayer) on that day as part of the Feast of Saint Augustine (the churches patronal saint). For those unfamiliar with a sung office, think monks and their multiple daily offices (Matins, Lauds, Vespers, etc.). It is a continued practice that was active in medieval times and Anglican churches (who hold Evensong) tend to revel in the almost medieval aspects of it. A choral group based out of the Oklahoma City Episcopal cathedral will be presenting most of the sung portion of the service including, I understand, at least one original piece composed for this service (a Te Deum).
Rosamund and I will be attending in medieval dress as part of the service. Those who know us through the SCA, and wish to, are welcome to attend in medieval dress as well.
To be clear, this is an actual church service (non-Eucharist, no Communion) during which our renewals will take place. A reception will follow, both for us and for the choral group visiting.
Just know that: our friends are welcome if you can attend, you are encouraged to attend in medieval dress, and we certainly understand if you have other commitments or this is just not your type of thing.
