I'm 'Technologically Challenged' (Fintan's term) but I enjoy e-mail. I do, however, 
recognize it's few shortcomings.  It's a communications tool..it can go strange places..I 
had a message (sandwiched in between several others in the course of a day to the same 
place)) come back 370hrs later as being 'undeliverable'.  You never know whether a phone is 
not being answered or not working.  Whether a person is checking their mail or not..or any 
number of variables.  Short of face-to-face communication almost everthing we do involves 
an element of chance in sending and recieving information.  I'm off my soapbox!!
